Will.i.am x AI

Will.i.am has announced the premiere of its radio show with AI as co-host, titled "Will.i.am Presents The FYI Show." It will first air on January 25 at 9pm ET. The co-host, an AI named qd.pi ("cutie pie"), will provide quick analysis and context. The program is expected to combine will.i.ama's colorful expression with AI's analytical approach. The first guests are Xzibit and Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. The qd.pi technology is based on the AI FYI app that will.i.am helped launch last year.

OK, saved to the calendar and looking forward to it.

Davos

As every year, Davos hosted heated debates as world leaders in politics, business and science gathered to discuss the future of AI and other global issues. Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, was optimistic about AI, pointing to the rapid adoption of the technology. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, stressed AI's dependence on energy breakthroughs. Google representatives expressed optimism, highlighting breakthroughs in medicine and science due to AI. However, Salesforce's Marc Benioff warned about the theft of intellectual property by AI companies and called for standardized payments for content creators.

They touted this AI but what will come of it, we'll see.

Apple > Samsung

Apple has surpassed Samsung as the world's largest smartphone vendor, reaching 20% market share by 2023, according to International Data Corp. data. Samsung ended the year with a 19.4% share, followed by Xiaomi, Oppo and Transsion of China. The repositioning came after a difficult year, when consumers slowed down on replacing smartphones with newer models, opting for cheaper models due to high inflation and economic uncertainty. Apple and Transion, which sells the Tecno, Infinix and itel brands, saw their sales rise despite the market declining 3.2% to 1.17 billion units. Samsung focused on the mid- and high-end segments, losing share in the low-budget segment. Apple is facing competitive pressure in China, even offering 5% discounts on some models.

Apple has taken the top spot, but it remains to be seen how long they will hold that position, offering discounts in a desperate battle for the Chinese market.
