Did he invest well?

X, formerly Twitter, is valued at $19 billion, a 55% decline from the $44 billion Elon Musk paid for it last year in October. This decline is attributed to employee layoffs and financial difficulties the company has faced over the past year. Musk has admitted that he overpaid for the company and has made various controversial decisions since the takeover, including changing the platform's name to X, changing content moderation policies and introducing new fees for users. The company also faced legal challenges and declining advertising revenues.

Time will tell whether the change of ownership will be a good thing, but it is already said that Musk's takeover of Twitter will be remembered as one of the worst takeovers in business history.

Court battle over copyrights

Midjourney, Stability AI and DeviantArt prevail in copyright case involving AI-generated art. The three artists filed suit, but Judge William H. Orrick of Northern California dismissed most of the claims because of errors in the complaint, including the failure to register some of the works with the U.S. Copyright Office. Although the judge acknowledged that the AI-generated images may be similar to the original works, he did not find them to be infringing. However, artists have the opportunity to amend and re-file their lawsuit.

It is not fair for AI models to use artists' works without their consent and without compensation. We should regulate this issue in a more fair way for creators.

Shiksha Copilot – a teaching revolution in India

Microsoft Research, in collaboration with teachers in India, has created "Shiksha copilot", an AI tool to help teachers create personalized and effective teaching materials. This interdisciplinary project aims to enhance the teaching experience by saving time on lesson planning, generating engaging learning materials, and adapting to specific learning needs. Teachers can quickly create lesson plans, design activities and find resources, all tailored to their specific curriculum and language preferences. The tool is being tested in several public schools in Bengaluru, India, in partnership with Sikshana Foundation, a local non-governmental organization focused on improving public education. Teachers' opinions are positive, which highlights the effectiveness of the tool in creating diverse and engaging educational materials.

Great news. I envy India for this initiative. I would like to see a similar program implemented in schools all over the world
