Gemini

Google has introduced Gemini, a new multi-modal AI model to compete with GPT-4 from OpenAI. Gemini integrates with Google products, including its search engine and advertising services, and is available in three versions: Nano for Android, Pro for Google's AI services and Ultra for data centers. The model supports video and audio, and is initially available in English, with plans to expand to other languages. Gemini uses Tensor units to boost performance.

I'll have to check out this Gemini from Google, because so far I've worked virtually only on ChatGPT. It would be nice if some solid competition emerged - a little variety in the market wouldn't hurt.

Elon raises cash

Elon Musk is raising $1 billion to develop one of his companies, xAI. So far he has raised $135 million from anonymous investors. xAI is developing Grok, a direct competitor to GPT's Chat and Google's Bard. Its main advantages are supposed to be real-time updates and distinguishing real information from misinformation.

Well, even Elon Musk, despite his space ambitions, now has to face the earthly reality of trying to raise a billion dollars for his new toy, which is probably as difficult as sending a rocket to Mars.

They hate it

A study by the University of Minnesota and the Oxford Internet Institute revealed that although AI-generated articles are increasingly used, most American adults approach them negatively. Especially when they are labeled as AI-generated, even though their accuracy is not in question.

No wonder they don't like AI content, after all, nothing can replace a real writer with his or her mistakes, mannerisms and subjectivity. Better to stick to traditional and inaccurate methods of work.
