South Dakota State University researchers Kaiqun Fu and Yangxiao Bai created the "ALERTA-Net" AI model to predict stock market trends by combining macroeconomic data, information from internet search engines and social media. Analyzing 41 blue-chip stocks and over 7 million tweets, they found that macroeconomic data significantly increases the model's accuracy. ALERTA-Net proved to be more effective than other models such as DP-LSTM. The team plans to expand its applications by exploring new data sources, including audio and video.

Binance is going down

Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance, has stepped down following money laundering accusations. The U.S. Department of Justice fined Binance $4.3 billion for facilitating illegal transactions, including with Iran, Syria, and Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine. Binance also conducted $106 million worth of bitcoin transfers from Hydra, a Russian darknet marketplace. As part of the settlement, Binance agreed to report suspicious activity, and Richard Teng became the new CEO. The company has previously faced legal challenges, including accusations from the CFTC and SEC in the US.
