Airbnb prevents parties

Airbnb is using artificial intelligence to prevent its rental properties from being used for wild parties. AI evaluates "hundreds" of factors in a user's account before allowing or blocking a booking. In 2023, for example, Airbnb placed restrictions on certain short-term bookings and blocked those deemed high-risk based on user ratings, proximity to the booking location and the time of booking.

I wonder if Airbnb has taught the algorithm to search for those who just want a quiet evening without a party, or is every last-minute booker already a potential party pooper?

Google lays off 30k people

Google is considering laying off up to 30,000 employees as part of a strategy to integrate AI tools and processes across the company. This is aimed at increasing efficiency, especially in advertising sales and customer service, where AI-based automation is expected to reduce the need for humans.

With each step Google takes toward AI, humans become more expendable. The irony is that we build intelligent machines that can replace us at work, and then we're surprised that jobs start to become scarce.
