AI Predicts Cancer with 82% Accuracy

AI significantly outperforms current laboratory analysis methods, achieving 82% accuracy in assessing the aggressiveness of rare sarcomas from scans, compared to 44% for laboratory analyses. Researchers from the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research said AI could improve treatment for thousands of people by recognizing patterns invisible to the naked eye. This could lead to faster diagnosis and more personalized treatments for patients. The study involved analyzing scans of 170 patients using a technique called radiomics and then assessing the aggressiveness of other patients' tumors more precisely than a biopsy could.

I would certainly rather be diagnosed with cancer by an algorithm than by a doctor. There are definitely better times ahead for patients.
