A new study by MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) has good news for workers: using AI to replace jobs is too expensive. Taking the example of an AI department interpreting images and video - it found that due to high upfront costs, only 23% of human jobs can be replaced by AI economically. Most companies don't see the point of investing in advanced AI systems when workers are cheaper.

For me, the conclusion of this study is sad: "Don't worry, you're cheaper than our AI toys, at least for now." What a relief, finally we are assured that our 'cost-effectiveness' will save us from unemployment.... at least until scientists find a way to lower the cost of their wonder machines.
